I had high hopes for the Inov8 Trailroc 255 after having spent 2 years in the Trailroc 245 pair.
The fit and feel is similar, possibly even the same. The mesh and everything is more or less the same as the 245. However there is one big difference. The grip on wet surfaces! The grip is great under any other circumstances but slippery surfaces. They are not very good when it’s wet and I didn’t feel confident in them. I would occasionally slip in these which would have never happened in the 245. I don’t get it because the shoes are so similar but there is something different about the soles on the 255.
I used these for a 4 day jungle trek on Borneo and had trouble standing on my feet when it was wet. I fell in the river when I had to jump onto the first rock and had to cross it barefoot. They were hopeless in mud and I slipped frequently.
Like with the Trailroc 245 I’m seriously impressed with the shoelaces. They never untie! There’s just no need for a double knot.
However, I would not recommend this shoe if you expect to use them on slippery surfaces. On dry surfaces they perform excellent though.
