Many links on this website are affiliate links, which means I may earn a commission if you make a purchase using those links. The price will be exactly the same whether you purchase something through a regular link or an affiliate link. By using the affiliate links I provide you are supporting this website and I’m grateful if you do so.
Liberatingthespirit.com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for me to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.
Liberatingthespirit.com is also affiliated with a number of other sites. If you want to know if a link is an affiliate link, then look at the URL. If it contains a ref/id number or liberatingthespirit is somewhere in the name then it’s an affiliate link.
Doesn’t affiliation affect my rating?
No, and here’s why.
If I want to make money, which I admittedly will, then I need to be honest. If I want people to come back then I have to be honest. If I’m dishonest then people will quickly realize it and although I might get a few bucks here and now those people most certainly won’t trust me again the second, third or tenth time. Even if I was completely selfish and didn’t mind tricking people it would still be a bad idea.
I do not wish for anyone to buy something based on my review and have a bad experience with the product. I just describe my experience with a product. That doesn’t make it a universal truth. So, I recommend that you read other reviews of the products I’ve reviewed here and not only rely on my experience. Because although I might have had an amazing product doesn’t mean you will and vice versa. There are no guarantees. I most certainly do not wish to push any product down anyone’s throat, because I hate that myself.
Do the required research and if you buy it through one of my links, great, thank you so very much! If not, that is great too. No matter what, I hope you find the product you want and it serves you as expected.
I’m being as honest as I possibly can which is also why you will see I’m not only saying good things about the products and services. I’ve been through a lot of products. Some have been bad, some have been average and some have been really amazing. I hope I can help you get closer to finding the right product for your needs.
I was really considering whether providing reviews and affiliated links was something I wanted to do, mainly because I don’t want to force anything on anyone. I believe anyone who knows me knows that. I concluded that since I know I’m being sincere about my reviews I can stand up for what I do. I also realized that I often check out gear reviews on other travel blogs myself and find it very useful.
It is up to you to decide if you believe me or not. I certainly don’t blame you if you don’t. After all I’m just some dude on the internet.
In the end however it will cost you nothing and assuming you are not buying any product based solely on my experience of it (because you shouldn’t) then it makes no difference to you. If you like this blog and find it useful then it’s a way for you to support it without paying anything.
In summary, yes, of course I would like people to buy as many products as possible, because I’m getting a cut, but NEVER at the expense of someone’s (your) trust.
2 examples of this you can check out if you want:
You can check out my review of HMA VPN which I only rate 4/10 even though they have a great affiliate program. Instead I recommend IVPN which doesn’t have an affiliate program. If I wanted to make money at all cost I could probably easily get away with this.
For the Travel Tap water filter review I would get more money by only placing a link to Amazon, where the filter is very expensive, but instead I recommend people buy it directly from the manufacturer even though I don’t get anything from that.
I believe this should settle the issue.
